WHAT IS PODIATRY?

Podiatry is a specialty of medical care of the foot and ankle. Podiatrist are dedicated and trained to examine, diagnose, and perform biomechanics and surgical treatment of your feet. Dr. Callahan provides foot care and performs surgery for your entire family. Dr. Callahan has completed four years of undergraduate training and has completed four years of podiatric medical school. Dr. Callahan also performed a post-graduate surgical residency training. Dr. Callahan is board certificated by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Callahan is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

What is the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons?

The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons is a membership organization dedicated to the lifelong learning of board qualified and board certified foot and ankle surgeons. Producing the gold standard of podiatric medical education, ACFAS is dedicated to promoting the art and science of foot and ankle surgery and the continued improvement of standards of education. ACFAS members have completed a series of rigid examinations administered by the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons (ABPS), which span many years. After successful completion of the board certification process, the Surgeon is able to apply to be a “Fellow” of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and becomes a FACFAS. This designation distinguishes them as having completed the highest level of education attainable in their discipline.
